Il team MXR ha messo a punto il Talk Box adattandolo alle esigenze moderne, pur mantenendo l'inconfondibile carattere che lo ha reso leggendario. Con il suo amplificatore e il suo altoparlante, l'MXR M222 Talk Box è compatto e adatto alla pedaliera: non è necessario un impianto separato o collegarsi direttamente all'uscita dell'altoparlante dell'amplificatore. Per utilizzare il Talk Box connettere la chitarra all'ingresso e, opzionalmente, l'output del pedale all'amplificatore. Collegare il tubo all'apposito ingresso sul pedale e posizionarlo sulla clip vicino al microfono. Una volta attivato il pedale, il segnale della chitarra non andrà più all'amplificatore ma verrà riprodotto dal tubo. È quindi molto importante posizionare il tubo in modo che il microfono catturi il segnale che andrà all'impianto. Il tubo verrà poi posizionato all'angolo della bocca tra i denti posteriori. Senza effettuare suoni con la voce, si muove la bocca mentre si suona per modellare il suono della chitarra.
