The Talk Box is a classic effect: you can hear it in some great songs of every genre, from 70s funk and rock to hard rock and metal. Its unique and expressive character is instantly recognizable. The MXR team has refined the Talk Box, adapting it to modern needs while maintaining the unmistakable character that made it legendary. With its amplifier and speaker, the MXR M222 Talk Box is compact and pedalboard-friendly: no separate rig is needed, nor do you need to connect directly to your amp's speaker output. Additionally, with Volume, Tone, and Gain controls, you can shape and add consistency to the Talk Box voice to achieve your desired sound. Like all MXR pedals, the M222 Talk Box is built with a rugged enclosure. Included in the box are an 18-volt power supply, the tube, and a mic clip to attach the tube to your stand.
To use the Talk Box, connect your guitar to the input and, optionally, the pedal's output to your amplifier. Connect the tube to the dedicated input on the pedal and position it on the clip near your microphone. Once the pedal is activated, the guitar signal will no longer go to the amplifier but will be played through the tube. It is therefore very important to position the tube so that the microphone captures the signal that will go to the sound system. The tube will then be placed at the corner of your mouth between your back teeth. Without making vocal sounds, move your mouth while playing to shape the guitar's sound.
