Questo pedale è stato concepito da MXR quando il team di progettazione MXR ha scoperto che il preamplificatore Echoplex si adattava bene sia alla chitarra che al basso. Utilizzando quella circuiteria come base, il team MXR ha aggiunto un'interfaccia semplice ma potente per poter scolpire il suono in studio o sul palco. Le manopole Treble e Bass regolano le frequenze rispettivamente a 4 kHz e 40 Hz, mentre la manopola Mid regola le frequenze impostate con la manopola Frequency, da 250 Hz a 1 kHz.
