Il Neumann DS 120 è un supporto doppio che permette di montare due microfoni su un'unica asta, una soluzione indispensabile per la ripresa stereofonica con coppie di microfoni. Il cuore del sistema è una barra di supporto lunga 150 mm, sulla quale scorrono due perni filettati da 1/2" posizionabili liberamente.
Grazie a questa struttura, la distanza e l'angolo tra i due microfoni possono essere regolati a piacere, rendendo il DS 120 adatto a numerose tecniche: dalla configurazione coincidente XY alla Blumlein con microfoni a figura a otto, fino a piccole configurazioni AB a microfoni spaziati. È particolarmente indicato per coppie di microfoni a diaframma piccolo come il KM 184 e per le capsule della serie KM A, montate tramite i supporti orientabili SG 21 bk.
L'attacco all'asta avviene tramite filettatura femmina da 5/8"-27; un adattatore incluso consente di collegarlo anche ad aste con perno da 1/2" e 3/8". La finitura nera rende il supporto discreto su palchi, in sale da concerto e in studio.
Il DS 120 è uno strumento pratico per registrare pianoforti, chitarre acustiche, overhead di batteria, ensemble, cori e ambienti, consentendo di posizionare rapidamente una coppia stereo su un solo supporto e di ripetere con precisione le stesse configurazioni da una sessione all'altra.
