Il Neumann MCM 114 Set Bass è la configurazione completa del Miniature Clip Mic System pensata per la ripresa ravvicinata del contrabbasso, sia dal vivo sia in studio. Il set riunisce in un'unica confezione tutto ciò che serve per collegare il microfono a un ingresso mixer standard e ottenere fin da subito il caratteristico suono Neumann su uno strumento notoriamente difficile da amplificare in modo naturale.
Il cuore del sistema è la capsula KK 14 a diagramma cardioide: una capsula a condensatore electret di dimensioni minime, assemblata a mano in Germania con una costruzione a strati che, secondo Neumann, supera i limiti tipici dei microfoni electret tradizionali. La risposta si estende da 20 Hz a 20 kHz, caratteristica fondamentale per restituire la profondità delle note gravi del contrabbasso, mentre la tenuta fino a 153 dB SPL garantisce margine anche con pizzicati e slap energici.
Per il fissaggio il set include la clip MC 3, progettata per agganciarsi alle corde del contrabbasso sotto il ponticello, abbinata al collo d'oca flessibile SH 150. Il supporto del collo d'oca ruota e si blocca a scatti di 45°, consentendo di orientare la capsula con precisione e di ripetere facilmente il posizionamento tra un concerto e l'altro, senza interventi invasivi sullo strumento.
Il segnale viaggia sul cavo AC 31 da 1,8 m con connettore mini jack fino allo stadio di uscita MCM 100, che converte il collegamento in XLR a tre poli e si alimenta con phantom a 48 V. Completano la dotazione l'antivento in spugna WS 110, il fermacavo KC 1 e una custodia morbida per il trasporto.
