Il Neumann MCM 114 Set Drums porta la qualità di ripresa Neumann sulla batteria e sulle percussioni grazie al Miniature Clip Mic System, un sistema modulare che unisce capsule miniaturizzate, supporti specifici per strumento e diverse opzioni di collegamento. Questa versione è ottimizzata per rullanti, tom, timpani da terra e strumenti simili, dove servono ingombri ridotti e grande capacità di gestire pressioni sonore elevate.
La capsula KK 14 è a condensatore electret con diagramma cardioide, assemblata a mano in Germania. Il suo limite di 153 dB SPL con distorsione dello 0,5% la rende perfettamente adatta ai transienti violenti di una batteria suonata con energia, mentre la direttività cardioide aiuta a contenere i rientri dei piatti e degli strumenti vicini. La risposta in frequenza da 20 Hz a 20 kHz restituisce sia il corpo dei tamburi sia l'attacco della bacchetta.
Il montaggio avviene tramite la clip MC 7, pensata per il fissaggio ai cerchi di rullanti, tom e timpani, abbinata al collo d'oca SH 150 dotato di supporto elastico che assorbe le vibrazioni meccaniche. La rotazione a scatti di 45° permette di puntare la capsula sulla pelle con precisione e di mantenere la posizione anche durante esecuzioni intense, liberando il set dai classici aste e morsetti ingombranti.
Il cavo AC 31 da 1,8 m collega la capsula allo stadio di uscita MCM 100, che fornisce un'uscita XLR bilanciata alimentata con phantom 48 V. Nel set trovano posto anche l'antivento WS 110, il fermacavo KC 1 e la custodia morbida.
