Il cavo CON-D25-XLRD è il cablaggio digitale ufficiale Merging Technologies per collegare la porta AES dei convertitori di rete Horus e Hapi MkII ad apparecchiature dotate di connessioni AES/EBU su XLR. Da un lato presenta un connettore DB-25 maschio, dall'altro otto connettori XLR a 3 poli: quattro femmina per gli ingressi e quattro maschio per le uscite.
Ogni connessione AES/EBU trasporta una coppia di canali, quindi con un solo cavo si gestiscono quattro flussi stereo in ingresso e quattro in uscita. Questo consente di collegare in modo ordinato registratori, processori digitali, console, convertitori esterni o sistemi di monitoraggio con ingresso AES, senza ricorrere a cablaggi artigianali o adattatori.
La lunghezza di 1,5 metri è pensata per l'uso in rack o in prossimità del convertitore, dove serve un collegamento compatto verso patchbay o apparecchi vicini. Il cavo è schermato, con diametro esterno di circa 12 mm e un peso di circa 0,5 kg, e la costruzione è adatta all'impiego quotidiano in studio e in ambito broadcast.
