Il cavo di sincronizzazione per Hapi e Horus è il breakout ufficiale Merging Technologies che rende accessibili i segnali presenti sulla porta SYNC dei convertitori di rete. La porta, su connettore D-Sub a 15 poli, raccoglie infatti in uno spazio ridotto più segnali di sincronizzazione che il cavo distribuisce su connettori separati.
Grazie a questo accessorio è possibile collegare ingressi e uscite di timecode LTC e di video reference, indispensabili in post-produzione audio per video, in ambito broadcast e in tutte le situazioni in cui il convertitore deve agganciarsi a un riferimento esterno o fornire sincronismo ad altri apparecchi. Va ricordato che il dispositivo accetta e distribuisce un riferimento video, ma non funziona come generatore di video reference.
Il montaggio è semplice: il connettore maschio si inserisce nella porta D-Sub femmina dell'unità e si fissa con le viti laterali serrate a mano, così da garantire un contatto stabile anche in installazioni soggette a movimenti o vibrazioni, come rack mobili e OB van.
La compatibilità include i convertitori Horus e Hapi MkII. Utilizzare il cavo originale significa disporre della corretta assegnazione dei segnali ai connettori, evitando errori di sincronizzazione che potrebbero causare derive o perdita dell'aggancio.
