La Multichannel Extension è la licenza di aggiornamento che sblocca le funzioni multicanale del sistema di allineamento automatico Neumann MA 1. Il pacchetto base MA 1, composto da microfono di misura e software, ottimizza la risposta dei monitor KH in configurazione stereo; con questa estensione la stessa procedura di calibrazione si applica a impianti surround e immersivi completi.
Sono supportate le configurazioni Quad, 5.1, 7.1, 5.1.4 e 7.1.4, con fino a quattro subwoofer. In questo modo l'MA 1 diventa uno strumento completo per regie di post-produzione, studi Dolby Atmos e sale di mix immersive, dove ottenere una risposta coerente fra tutti i diffusori è essenziale per lavorare con fiducia.
Il software misura l'ambiente e i diffusori, rileva automaticamente i modi della stanza e sceglie i filtri più appropriati, applicando una curva target adattiva in funzione dell'ambiente. Compensa inoltre le differenze di tempo d'arrivo fra i vari diffusori, così che il suono di tutti i canali raggiunga il punto di ascolto in modo allineato, a beneficio della precisione dell'immagine spaziale. Neumann riassume l'obiettivo in una frase: allineamento di qualità di riferimento reso semplice.
L'estensione funziona con tutti i monitor di studio della linea KH dotati di connessione di rete; i monitor non collegati in rete richiedono un subwoofer di rete dedicato. Sono necessari il microfono di misura MA 1 e il software MA 1 in versione 2.0 o successiva, disponibile per Mac e PC.
La licenza viene attivata tramite chiave sul sistema MA 1 esistente: non si tratta quindi di un prodotto stand-alone, ma di un upgrade per chi possiede già la soluzione MA 1 e desidera portarla in ambito multicanale.
