RIME (Reference Immersive Monitoring Environment) è il plug-in di Neumann che porta il monitoraggio immersivo direttamente in cuffia. Combina tecnologia proprietaria Neumann e algoritmi AMBEO per ricreare in modo credibile l'ascolto in una stanza di riferimento, permettendo di mixare e masterizzare contenuti tridimensionali anche quando non si dispone di un impianto multicanale.
Il plug-in supporta i formati immersivi fino a 7.1.4, oltre alle configurazioni stereo e surround. L'obiettivo è una qualità sonora e una localizzazione precise, con un'efficace esternalizzazione: il suono viene percepito fuori dalla testa, come se provenisse da altoparlanti, superando il tipico effetto di localizzazione interna dell'ascolto in cuffia. Anche il lavoro in stereo ne beneficia, con una resa simile a quella di una coppia di monitor.
RIME riproduce un'unica stanza di riferimento invece di offrire molteplici ambienti virtuali, a vantaggio della coerenza delle decisioni di mix. È ottimizzato per le cuffie Neumann NDH 20, NDH 20 Black Edition e NDH 30, di cui tiene conto delle caratteristiche acustiche per garantire uniformità sonora. È inoltre compatibile con head tracker che supportano il protocollo OSC, così l'immagine sonora resta stabile quando si muove la testa.
