THE MOST VERSATILE NORD SYNTHESIZER EVER
The NORD Wave 2 offers no less than 4 independent synthesizers in one, with exceptional layering possibilities between classic waveforms and samples. Dedicated OLED displays for the Program and Oscillator sections provide a clear overview of parameters during sound creation or modification, while the full range of instantly modifiable functions and effects make the Wave 2 our most versatile performance synthesizer ever.
Monitor mode
The new Monitor Mode function displays the settings for the Amp and Filters Envelope in the Program display for optimal control of these parameters.
LAYER SECTION
The Wave 2 features a Layer section for each PROGRAM with dedicated Faders to easily and simultaneously control the Volume or Pan of all 4 Layer parts. This also includes useful functions for quick layer selection, pan control, soloing, and multi-editing.
Group Mode
The new Group function allows you to group 2, 3 or 4 Layers to share the same filter, envelope, arpeggiator, LFO and effects settings; ideal for creating complex multi-layered sounds that can be modified as a single coherent sound.
OSCILLATOR SECTION
The Oscillator section offers 4 different synthesis modes for each of the 4 Layers: Analog, Wavetable, FM, and Samples, easily selectable thanks to the new feature: Direct Category Mode; Oscillator Control allows additional control over Shape, Sync, or Detune.
Oscillator Categories
Analog: A wide range of classic and advanced analog waveforms, rich in harmonics.
Basic: Saw, Pulse, Pulse Width, Sine, Square with basic tuning controls.
Shape: Waveforms where Osc Control can modify the shape of the waveform itself.
Multi: 2 or more waveforms combined, where Osc Control adjusts the amount of Detune and Spread.
Sync: Soft and Hard, where Osc Control controls the Sync Frequency.
Noise: White Noise
Samples: Includes a carefully selected range of high-quality samples from the Nord Sample Library 3.0, with the ability to add personal Samples via the Nord Sample Editor 3. Internal Samples can be used immediately to create various sounds, while the "Raw Samp" function facilitates the modeling of a personal timbre from scratch.
Wavetable: A large number of advanced Wavetables that provide a wide range of tonal characteristics.
FM: 2, 3, and 4 operator configurations with harmonic and inharmonic spectrum variations.
Unison: The Wave 2 features an effective Multi-oscillator Unison effect, capable of generating true Superwaves with hundreds of simultaneous waveforms, to achieve extremely thick and consistent (Fat) sounds.
COMPATIBLE WITH NORD SAMPLE LIBRARY 3.0
The Sample section has 1 GB of memory and comes pre-loaded with a vast and carefully selected range of quality Samples including: strings, brass, guitars, choirs, chromatic percussion, as well as exclusive licensed sounds from the legendary Mellotron and Chamberlin. All sounds are easily replaceable using the Nord Sound Manager.
Create and transfer your samples
Adding instruments with custom Samples has never been easier, thanks to the new Nord Sample Editor 3 for Mac and Windows, which allows you to map, loop, and transfer Samples to the Nord Wave 2 in an instant.
FILTER SECTION
This section features 6 filter types: classic 12 and 24 dB low-pass, high-pass, high-pass/low-pass, and a band-pass filter, along with the extraordinary emulation of the legendary Mini's transistor Ladder filter. The exclusive modeling of these filters has allowed us to capture the true essence of classic analog instruments, enabling their extremely precise reproduction. The Filter section also features a complete ADSR envelope.
LFO AND MODULATION SECTION
The Wave 2 features a dedicated LFO for each Layer with a selection of waveforms plus an AD/AR modulation envelope, with dedicated Velocity setting and Invert Mode. The LFO has several parameters controllable via Morphing, while the modulation frequency can be synchronized with the Master Clock.
AMP ENVELOPE
The Amp section features a complete ADSR envelope and the new effective Transient Attack mode to add more impact to sounds.
MORPHING AND IMPULSE MORPH
The Wave 2 features a wide range of modulatable parameters via Morph, which in turn can be controlled by four different sources: Velocity, Aftertouch, Wheel, and Control Pedal. Multiple parameters can also be quickly assigned to the same Morph source. The powerful Impulse Morph function is also present, allowing instant modification of any timbre parameter.
Wheel Assignment
The Modulation Wheel can be instantly assigned to: LFO, Oscillator Control or Filter
ADVANCED POLYPHONIC ARPEGGIATOR WITH GATE
The classic or polyphonic arpeggiator, with directly editable patterns, makes the Wave 2 a true rhythmic powerhouse!
Polyphonic mode
In Poly mode, the polyphonic arpeggiator retriggers all keys, both those pressed normally and those under the control of the selected Pattern, with various inversions generating interesting harmonic variations.
Gate mode
This brand new mode "cuts" the sound following a precise rhythmic pattern with adjustable intensity.
MASTER CLOCK
The Wave 2's Master Clock allows LFO, Arpeggiator, and effects to be synchronized via internal or external MIDI clock. With the Master Clock, individual arpeggio patterns used on Layers can be synchronized with Delay and LFO. The Tap Tempo function allows manual and real-time adjustment of the Clock speed.
EFFECTS SECTION
Each Layer has an independent effects section, with a wide selection of high-quality stereo effects, modeled after vintage "Stompboxes" and instantly modifiable.
Modulation Effects
Tremolo, Pan, Ring Modulator, Chorus, Ensemble and Vibe effects with controls for: Rate (modulation speed) and Amount (modulation intensity). All effects are controllable via pedal, or other Morph sources, and can also be synchronized to the Master Clock to generate rhythmic effects.
EQ & Drive
EQ with: Bass and Treble controls or a single-band "Sweepable" EQ. There is also a brilliant simulation of a Tube Drive valve circuit.
Delay
Advanced Stereo Delay effect with Ping Pong mode, Analog Mode, and Tap Tempo. New creative features include options to add Ensemble, Chorus, Vibe, HP/LP filter, and BP effects to the Feedback Loop.
Reverb
The Reverb section features 5 different ambient sizes: Booth, Room, Stage, Hall, and Cathedral (New), which add spatiality and depth to sounds. The Amount parameter (intensity) is now controllable via Morphing, while the "Bright" and "Dark" modes give the effect a brighter or darker character, and finally the new "Chorale" adds a refined touch of modulation to the reverb.
SPLITS & LAYERS
Having four identical and equally powerful synthesizers simultaneously opens up new horizons for timbre programming via Layering. The Split mode allows for 3 split points on the keyboard with 4 different zones, also controllable via Crossfade. The versatile Hold function allows each Slot to be locked and held in the background independently, while other musical parts are played simultaneously.
SOUND MANAGER
The Nord Wave 2 is compatible with Nord Sound Manager software for OS X and Windows. Nord Sound Manager allows for easy reorganization, backup, and transfer of Programs.
MIDI CONTROL
The Wave 2 offers the convenience of MIDI over USB, ideal for use with an external sequencer or with the Sound Manager software (included).
KEYBOARD
The Nord Wave 2 features a 61-key (C-C) semi-weighted, Waterfall keyboard with Aftertouch.
HARDWARE
Like all Nord instruments, the Nord Wave 2 is handcrafted in the Nord factory in Stockholm with incredible attention to detail and quality control.
