Belt-drive Turntable
The PRO-JECT X8 EVOLUTION SP is a belt-drive turntable with a high-mass platter and is a true high-end turntable featuring significant technical characteristics adopted from the Xtension 9 and 10 models.
The PRO-JECT X8 EVOLUTION SP features a heavy TPE-damped platter, machined from a single block of precision-turned and balanced aluminum. A neodymium magnet is inserted into the base, reducing load on the bearing. Considering the enormous weight of the platter, this provides a smooth rotational base for vinyl and perfect speed stability.
The massive MDF plinth and Pro-Ject 9cc EVO carbon tonearm are also part of the PRO-JECT X8 EVOLUTION SP. The main differences compared to the Xtension 9 and 10 models concern the top of the main platter and the magnetic feet. Instead of the vinyl mat glued to the platter, the use of a slipmat has been reinstated. In fact, the PRO-JECT X8 EVOLUTION SP comes standard with a felt mat, allowing the end user to customize it with higher-performance or different colored mats, which was impossible on the Xtension 9 and 10 models due to the vinyl mat.
The new feet are still made of aluminum and are height-adjustable. The magnetic suspension has been replaced by TPE damping technology, which is very effective in decoupling the PRO-JECT X8 EVOLUTION SP from the surface on which it is placed. This is the best choice for a more affordable turntable, as the new feet are quicker and easier to install than magnetic ones and require less maintenance over time.
The PRO-JECT X8 EVOLUTION SP comes with a 5-pin output connector and the standard semi-balanced Connect it E 5P -> RCA cable.
