Stereo Audio Switcher
The RADIAL ENGINEERING BACKTRACK is a compact stereo audio switcher, perfect for bands running redundant backing tracks on stage or for switching between two stereo audio sources.
Connecting playback devices to the RADIAL ENGINEERING BACKTRACK is easy thanks to the ¼" TRS connections provided for the outputs of a recording interface and 3.5mm stereo inputs for integration with smartphones, tablets, or laptops. The ¼" TRS outputs can power active speakers for on-stage monitoring, and the balanced XLR outputs will carry signals up to 100m for connection to a PA system. The XLR outputs are transformer-isolated to eliminate noise and hum caused by ground loops and feature a Ground-lift switch that further reduces noise.
Once connected, an A/B switch determines which stereo input to use, and the backup source can be quickly activated in case the main playback system fails. You can also connect a JR-2 device to the RADIAL ENGINEERING BACKTRACK to select inputs remotely. When preparing tracks for playback, a Mute switch disables power to the main and monitor outputs, allowing you to monitor tracks silently using a dedicated headphone output. This output has its own level control and input selector, and you can control both sources without disturbing the on-stage outputs even during a live performance.
