The RADIAL ENGINEERING J-ISO is a stereo isolator and converter designed to convert a professional +4dB balanced line-level signal to a -10dB unbalanced consumer-level device. This allows you to take the balanced output from a mixer and feed it to a consumer-level recorder or the audio input on a computer.
The passive design starts with 100% discrete components. A "set & forget" level control allows you to attenuate the input signal to prevent it from overloading the target device. Output connections include a stereo pair of ¼" connectors, a set of RCAs, and a 3.5mm (1/8") mini-jack for interfacing with mini-recorders or laptops. Transformer isolation helps eliminate hum and buzz caused by ground loops. Construction starts with 14-gauge steel throughout, using Radial's unique bookend design. This creates a protective zone around the connectors and controls for increased durability. The steel construction also helps shield the transformers from external magnetic fields. Inside, the RADIAL ENGINEERING J-ISO features an innovative I-beam skeletal insert that makes twisting the PC board virtually impossible. This reduces the potential stress that could cause premature solder joint failure.
