The Radial Q4 brings the purity of 100% discrete electronics to produce a true Class-A state-variable filter design. The Q4 is a line-level device designed to interface with balanced pro-audio recording systems. It features 4 bands of EQ with shelving filters for high and low frequencies fixed at 100Hz and 10kHz, and 2 semi-parametric mid-bands ranging from 300Hz to 2.4kHz and from 1kHz to 12kHz respectively. Each mid-frequency band also offers a choice between wide or narrow Q, to open up the sweet spot or tighten it for surgical precision. All frequencies are set with a boost or cut of 12 dB. The EQ can be bypassed to compare the effect before and after equalization.
The preference for using Class-A circuits over Class-AB or other designs is well-documented. Add this to the fact that Series 500 users seek analog purity and you'll immediately understand why the Q4 becomes so interesting. And once you turn it on, you'll immediately hear how good it sounds! Like all other Radial Series 500 modules, the Q4 is made of aluminum for durability and protection from magnetic fields. Inside, the Q4 features a double-sided circuit board with 100% discrete components. These are hand-soldered for optimal signal flow. When mounted in a Workhorse rack, the Omniport connection functions as a ¼” TRS input/output connector that can interface with a mixer's insert point using a simple TRS connector. The Q4 is built in Canada and comes with a 3-year warranty.
