The Radial JDI Stereo is a passive stereo direct box designed to handle signals with extreme levels without any distortion. Unlike an active DI, which is limited by the buffer's voltage, it employs a pair of Jensen audio transformers that simultaneously balance the signal and reduce impedance for long cable runs. No power supply is required. Simply plug it in, and it works.
The magic comes from the amazing internal Jensen transformers, renowned for their ability to correctly handle transients, offering a soft and warm Bessel curve, reminiscent of the best vintage devices. Linear from 10Hz to 40kHz and with virtually zero phase deviation, the JDI Stereo keeps the instrument's sound natural and pure, not artificial. In addition to converting the unbalanced Hi-Z signal, the transformers isolate the input from the output, filtering out DC voltage that can cause noise and lead to so-called ground loops. All of this allows audio to pass through while eliminating problems.
Features include ¼" input and thru-put connectors, plus a -15dB input pad on each channel. There is also a ground lift switch that lifts pin 1 on the two XLR outputs to further reduce hum and buzz caused by ground loops. Robustly built to withstand the extreme use of touring, the JDI Stereo uses a 14-gauge I-beam steel chassis and an exclusive book-style outer shell. The innovative design eliminates stress on the circuitry, reducing the possibility of solder joint detachment, while the outer shell creates a protective zone around switches and connectors. The steel enclosure works with the mu-metal transformer and internal Faraday shielding to protect the internal mechanisms sensitive to stronger magnetic fields, such as those generated by amplifiers, ensuring quiet and hum-free signal handling.
The original Radial JDI has become the most famous passive direct box in professional tours and recording studios worldwide, and there is no doubt that the JDI Stereo will follow suit. All these features have made the Radial JDI the most famous passive direct box in professional tours and an excellent choice for studio instrument use! Radial JDI - the best passive direct box in the world.
