Radial Mix-Blender
Estimated delivery in Italy between 9 and 13 July
The Mix-Blender is a brand new dual-function pedal that allows the user to blend two instruments or two signals from effects processors and add additional effects like a real mixer, while maintaining control over the signal path. Ryan Juchnowski, Senior Tech Team Associate at Radial, explains:"Classic guitar and bass stompboxes only allow you to choose between on or off. This feature, which can work perfectly with a guitar overdrive, becomes a problem with bass: distortion pedals are focused on mid and high frequencies, and when used with a bass, all the low-frequency energy dissipates and the notes lose their distinctive character. Using the Mix-Blender, you can add any degree of distortion to the signal path while keeping the bass sounds intact, thanks to a simple wet-dry control. Artists can blend effects just like in a recording studio and optimize processing by adding character without losing the fundamental timbre of the instrument."
The Mix-Blender starts with the classic Radial 14-gauge steel chassis, which ensures greater rigidity and protection from magnetic fields. Two instruments can be connected simultaneously thanks to the two available inputs, both with 100% discrete Class A buffers and adjustable level controls. Juchnowski continues:"The large number of bassists and guitarists who manage their instrument's signal through a pedalboard has led to an increasing demand for more control. These are simple situations, such as routing two instruments into the same signal path, or for the more adventurous, it can involve blending two effects together, for example, distortion and phase, by first splitting the signal via an ABY pedal and then recombining it. Jimmy Hendrix and Jimmy Page, among the greatest innovators in terms of sound, pushed the guitar into new dimensions. The Mix-Blender does exactly the same thing... it opens the door to creativity, helping to unleash innovative musical ideas."
The Mix-Blender is a unity gain device designed for ease of use. In other words, the level controls do not boost or color the audio signal but simply allow it to flow through without altering it. All connectors are standard ¼" phone jacks set to work with typical guitar signal levels. It can be powered with a Boss-type 9V adapter (not included) or via the pedalboard's power brick.
