One Operator, Multiple Audiences
With the VR-120HD AV Direct Streaming Mixer, a single operator can easily manage hybrid live and online productions without the need for external devices or additional staff. With a wide selection of audio and video inputs and outputs, a large touchscreen and direct controls, this powerful portable tool offers all the functionality you need to tackle any intermediate-level production. Advanced Roland AV features also simplify even the most complex applications, with customizable workflows, powerful automation functions, remote control of PTZ cameras, one-touch macro sequences, LAN and USB streaming, and more.
Create Experiences Dedicated to Live and Online Audiences
VR-120HD's flexible video capabilities allow you to manage the multiple presentation needs of events as they unfold. Assign sources on the fly to eight cross-points, including live video inputs, still images and video clips. Prioritize cameras and/or computer sources with scene recall. And create dedicated feeds for live and online audiences by assigning composition layers to multiple buses, as needed.
HDMI and SDI Inputs
V-120HD supports HDMI for common A/V devices, and SDI for long-distance cables and high-quality cameras. Seamlessly combine six HDMI sources and six SDI sources in full HD, with a choice of frame rates and color spaces for broadcast and cinema. All HDMI inputs are equipped with built-in scalers with EDID and HDCP support, eliminating connection issues with customer-supplied sources such as computers, tablets, smartphones, gaming consoles and older 4:3 devices.
Built-In Playback of Still Images and Video Clips
Enhance events with built-in graphics support and video playback. Recall still images during transitions between presenters, display graphics during breaks and use PNG to create dynamic lower thirds. The built-in video player allows you to play video clips directly from an SDXC card, without the need to connect an external playback device.
Layers and Keyers
Video effects and graphics are essential to complete and enhance the engagement capabilities of productions. The V-120HD's effects processor offers eight-layer compositions that can be assigned to Program, Sub-Program and Aux outputs to engage your audience with visually compelling content. With up to four picture-in-picture windows and two downstream key layers, with PNG image transparency support and external keying, you can handle the creative needs of any client. For example:
Layer 1-2—Start with mixable live video layers in the background.
Layer 3-6—Position them in four picture-in-picture layers or chroma/luminance key effects.
Layer 7-8—Add two downstream keyers with support for fill and key inputs.
Versatile Video Outputs
With multiple assignable outputs, including three SDI and three HDMI, a USB-C output for streaming and ethernet streaming, V-120HD delivers enterprise-grade video routing. Send signals simultaneously to program displays, auxiliary monitors, multi-view producer displays and online audiences, along with a dedicated "clean" output for recording the presentation to an SDXC card.
Professional Quality Digital Audio Mixer
VR-120HD offers the most powerful audio capabilities of any video switcher in its class, saving you the expense of a dedicated mixer and audio technician. You have control of 42 audio channels, complete with a choice of processing functions, I/O routing options and automation functionality.
Multichannel Inputs for Analog and Digital Audio
VR-120HD features six balanced audio inputs with XLR/1/4 combo connectors, high-quality microphone preamplifiers and phantom power. You have four RCA inputs available for devices with standard line-level output, and you can also mix digital audio embedded in HDMI, SDI and USB inputs. Additionally, Bluetooth is available for audio streaming from a mobile device.
Powerful Mixing Functions
Configure direct control of your most important audio feeds with eight assignable faders. And when you need to manage multiple presenters, activate Auto Mixing to lighten your load and ensure that the mix between microphones remains balanced. You can set specific inputs so that they have priority when someone starts speaking, automatically lowering other audio levels as needed.
A Mix for Every Audience
Two auxiliary audio buses allow you to configure dedicated mixes for a variety of applications. For example, you can send a feed to a monitoring system for performers on stage, while live streaming a dedicated mix independent from the other. Versatile routing allows you to freely assign the mix and Aux buses to stereo XLR outputs, stereo RCA outputs, USB and streaming/recording outputs, or HDMI or SDI outputs.
Create Your Sound
VR-120HD combines all the power of the most modern audio consoles with the best Roland effects. EQ and dynamic processing are available on every input and output, while high-quality reverb is available for musical applications and special effects. There are also special features to quickly address audio issues, such as automatic anti-feedback for stage microphones and adaptive noise reduction, to suppress background noise and hum.
Audio On Demand
With VR-120HD's exclusive Audio Player section and eight assignable pads, it's easy to enhance events with custom sounds. With a quick press, you can trigger sound effects, event announcements, countdowns for e-sports, or station IDs for presenters when they take the stage, with unlimited possibilities.
Ethernet and USB Streaming, and Internal Recording
Customers demand seamless broadcast, and VR-120HD's advanced technologies make livestreaming on the most popular platforms easier than ever. With support for both direct streaming via Ethernet and streaming to a computer via USB, you can deliver high-quality presentations to any audience. And with simultaneous recording to SDXC, it's easy to capture the show for later distribution.
Secure and Reliable LAN Streaming
With VR-120HD's powerful LAN streaming capabilities, you can connect directly to Twitch, Facebook and other platforms, without the need for a computer. The Adaptive Bitrate function monitors the quality of your network connection and automatically adjusts streaming speed to reduce interruptions due to bandwidth issues. An adjustable Safety Delay is also available, which allows you to safely stream unscripted events and prevent offensive content from being transmitted.
Dual LAN Streaming Destination
Encode and transmit livestreams via ethernet on two independent channels on the same platform to reach a wider audience. Or use the second channel to capture a real-time local backup. It is also possible to use a mobile phone with 4G or 5G connectivity as the primary streaming connection or as a redundant backup.
USB-C Streaming Up to 60 FPS
Stream to any audience in Full HD to a computer, via USB. The USB-C connection offers the same plug-and-play technology as webcams, * so you can start streaming immediately with Zoom, Microsoft Teams or any platform that can use a webcam as its source.
*Compliant with USB Video Class (UVC) and USB Audio Class (UAC). Support for YUV2 (uncompressed) and Motion JPEG (compressed) formats.
SDXC Card Recording
With the built-in recorder of VR-120HD, you can easily record an event to an SDXC card and provide your customer with an H.264 MP4 video file* for their editing and distribution needs. Stereo WAV audio can also be recorded independently for podcasts and other audio-based media. You can even record still images in internal memory from any video output bus, and save them to the card for later use.
*The recording bitrate is equal to the livestream encoding bitrate.
Command Your Productions
VR-120HD offers immediate control of essential functions with knobs, faders and hardware buttons. And with the 7" touch display, you'll have quick access to parameters and detailed settings. Scenes, macros and sequencing features make your workflow even simpler, allowing you to pre-program complicated actions and execute them in sequence with simple steps during the event.
Quick Recall of Complex Compositions
Saving and recalling custom scenes requires just a few button presses. The 32 scene memories and advanced effects processor work together to deliver linear changes, including transition synchronization of all layers in the program output composition. The 100 macros go even further, allowing you to configure and execute complex action lists that include switching, DSK on/off, audio mixing adjustments, PTZ camera movements and much more.
The Magic of Sequencing
VR-120HD's sequencer makes presets and macros even more powerful, allowing you to easily perform perfectly synchronized Cues. Up to 1,000 steps can be recorded in the sequencer, and each step can include both presets and macros. Set your Cues in advance in the sequence list and activate them in order for stress-free production.
Automated Switching and Mixing
When there are many presenters on stage, you need to follow the action and change audio and video together. VR-120HD's automated video switching and audio mixing features simplify this complex task, greatly easing your workload and creating a always smooth experience for your audience.
PTZ Camera Support
PTZ (pan-tilt-zoom) robotic cameras eliminate the need for multiple operators, offering better coverage with broadcast quality, and can be positioned out of sight thanks to their compact size. VR-120HD provides integrated support for selected Canon, JVC, Panasonic, Sony, PTZOptics, Avonic and VISCA-compatible LAN PTZ cameras. Mix and match different brands as you prefer, and control up to 12 PTZ cameras simultaneously.
