Multiple HDMI inputs

The VR-6HD supports HDMI, the world's most common video connector, and you can seamlessly combine six HDMI sources in Full HD with a range of broadcast and cinematic frame rates and color spaces. Integrated scalers with EDID and HDCP support provide simple integration with sources like computers, tablets, smartphones, game consoles, and legacy 4:3 devices.

Integrated playback of still images and video clips

Enrich events with built-in support for graphics and video playback. You can recall still images during transitions between presenters, display graphics, and use PNG files to create dynamic overlays. The integrated video player allows you to launch video clips directly from the SDXC card, without the need to connect an external device for playback.

Layers and keyers

Video effects and graphics are indispensable for giving productions a professional and exciting touch. The VR-6HD's effects engine offers five composition layers that can be assigned to Program, Sub-Program, and Aux outputs, ensuring your audience remains engaged. With the ability to have up to two picture-in-picture windows and a downstream key layer with transparent PNG and external key support, you can handle any creative need. For example:

• Layers 1-2: Start with mixable live background video layers.
• Layers 3-4: Place two picture-in-picture layers or chroma/luminance key effects.
• Layer 5: Add a downstream keyer with support for fill and key inputs.

Assignable video outputs

The VR-6HD provides you with a high-quality video matrix with three HDMI outputs, one USB-C streaming output, and one Ethernet streaming output. You can simultaneously feed program displays, auxiliary monitors, multi-view screens for producers, and online audiences, with a clean output available to record the presentation to an SDXC card.

The VR-6HD delivers world-class audio quality with 28 simultaneous channels and Roland's acclaimed audio mixing features. A complete EQ and dynamic processing are available on each channel, complete with practical preset libraries for instant professional results. Powerful troubleshooting tools are also available, including audio sync alignment, de-essing, noise suppression, and more. It's even possible to play stored audio during streams with simple panel touches.

Multi-channel audio inputs and Bluetooth

The VR-6HD offers professional analog audio connectivity with six balanced XLR/TRS combo jacks, high-quality microphone preamps, and phantom power. Stereo RCA inputs are available for audio players, electronic instruments, and other line-level devices, and you can mix embedded digital audio from sources connected to the HDMI and USB inputs. And with built-in Bluetooth, it's easy to stream audio wirelessly from any mobile device.

Powerful mixing tools

Configure direct control for your most important audio feeds with seven assignable faders. And when you have multiple presenters to deal with, activate Auto Mixing to lighten the load and ensure the mix between microphones remains balanced. You can set specific inputs as priority when someone starts speaking, and other audio levels are automatically reduced as needed.

A mix for every audience

Two auxiliary audio buses allow you to configure unique mixes for a variety of applications. For example, you can send a signal to a monitoring system for presenters while streaming a specialized mix independent of the program on-site. Versatile routing allows you to freely assign mix and auxiliary buses to the two stereo XLR outputs, stereo RCA output, USB and streaming/recording outputs, or HDMI outputs.

Shape your sound

The VR-6HD combines all the power of the latest digital audio consoles with Roland's extensive effects. Four-band EQ and dynamic processors are available for each input and output, and high-quality reverb is available for musical applications and special effects. You also have specialized tools to quickly address audio problems, such as automatic feedback suppression for stage microphones and adaptive noise reduction to suppress background noise and hum.

Audio on demand

With the VR-6HD's unique Audio Player section and six assignable pads, it's simple to enhance events with custom sounds. With a simple press, you can trigger sound effects, event announcements, e-sports countdowns, or theme songs for presenters – the limit is only your imagination.

Secure and reliable streaming via LAN

The VR-6HD's powerful LAN streaming capabilities allow you to connect directly to Twitch, Facebook, and other platforms without the need for a computer. The Adaptive Bitrate feature monitors network connection quality and automatically adjusts streaming speed to reduce interruptions caused by bandwidth issues. An adjustable safety delay is also available, allowing you to transmit unscripted events with confidence and avoid broadcasting offensive content.

Dual LAN streaming destinations

Expand your audience by simultaneously broadcasting on two different livestreaming channels. You can also use a mobile phone with a 4G or 5G data plan as the primary streaming connection or as a redundant backup.

USB-C streaming up to 60 FPS

Broadcast in Full HD to any audience by connecting the VR-6HD to a computer via the USB connection. The USB-C connection offers the same plug-and-play technology as webcams*, so you can start broadcasting immediately on Zoom, Microsoft Teams, or any platform that supports using a webcam as a source.

*Compatible with USB video class (UVC) and USB audio class (UAC). Supports YUY2 (uncompressed) and Motion JPEG (compressed) formats.

SDXC card recording

With the integrated recorder, you can easily record an event to an SDXC card and provide your client with an H.264 MP4 video file* for their editing and distribution needs. You can also record stereo WAV audio independently for podcasts and other audio media. It is also possible to capture still images from internal memory from any video output and save them to the card for later use.

*Recording bitrate is the same as the livestream encoding bitrate.

Scene memory, macro, and sequence functions further simplify operation, allowing you to pre-program complex actions and trigger them with simple commands.

Quick recall of complex compositions

Storing and recalling custom aspects is possible with a few simple commands. The 32 scene memories and advanced effects engine work together to provide smooth transitions, including synchronizing the switching of all composite layers to the program output. The 100 macros go even deeper, allowing you to create and execute lists of complex actions that include switches, DSK on/off, audio adjustments, PTZ camera movements, and much more.

Sequence magic

The VR-6HD's sequencer makes scene memories and macros even more powerful, allowing you to execute perfectly synchronized commands with ease. You can record up to 1000 steps in the sequencer, and each step can include both presets and macros. Prepare your sequences in the sequence list in advance and activate them in the desired order for a stress-free production.

Automated Switching and Mixing

When there are many presenters, it is necessary to follow the action and switch audio and video simultaneously. The VR-6HD's automated video switching and audio mixing capabilities make this complex task simple, significantly lightening your workload and creating a smooth experience for the audience.

PTZ camera support

Robotic PTZ (pan-tilt-zoom) cameras eliminate the need for multiple operators, offer high-quality broadcast-like coverage, and can be placed in discreet locations thanks to their small size. The VR-6HD offers integrated support for LAN PTZ cameras compatible with Canon, JVC, Panasonic, Sony, PTZOptics, Avonic, and VISCA. You can combine different brands as you wish and control up to six PTZ cameras simultaneously.

Advanced remote control options

The VR-6HD supports extended workflows through dedicated software apps and a variety of remote devices.

• The free VR-6HD Remote app for iPad connects via Bluetooth, allowing you to wirelessly control event functions through a portable touch interface*.
• Use the free VR-6HD remote control software to operate the switcher from a Mac or Windows computer*.
