16 x 2 Summing Mixer
The RUPERT NEVE DESIGN 5057 ORBIT is a 16 x 2 summing mixer that gives mixes the sound, width, and power that only an analog Class-A Rupert Neve summing mixer can provide. With Rupert Neve's famous custom transformers and Silk Red & Blue circuits for variable harmonic saturation, the RUPERT NEVE DESIGN 5057 ORBIT takes "in-the-box" mixes to new heights of depth and sonic clarity, without compromising the advantages of recall and a DAW-based workflow.
The RUPERT NEVE DESIGN 5057 ORBIT uses a custom output transformer originally developed for the Shelford Channel, which provides both a Main Output and a -6dB output. The latter allows the RUPERT NEVE DESIGN 5057 ORBIT to be driven to achieve more harmonic content from the transformer without clipping the next device in the chain. This transformer has become, over the years, a Rupert Neve trademark, and its sound can be found on countless records.
In addition to the choice of outputs, the continuous "Texture" control with Silk Red and Silk Blue modes gives complete control over the harmonic density and tone of the mix, or allows you to leave it clean and uncolored. Silk Red mode accentuates transformer saturation in the high and mid-high frequencies to amplify mid-range harmonics, often associated with vintage Rupert Neve equipment, while Silk Blue accentuates saturation in the low and mid-low frequencies to add "sonic weight" to any source. Especially for mixes that sound "small." Unlike EQs, these controls saturate the output transformers and add harmonic saturation to the source depending on the amount of Texture applied.
While the RUPERT NEVE DESIGN 5057 ORBIT is already an extremely effective tool on its own, to increase the number of channels, multiple units can be added via the Buss Link.
With precisely set channel levels and accurate mix buss attenuation via high-quality stepped switches, the pure signal path of the RUPERT NEVE DESIGN 5057 ORBIT and its matched channels provides very low (almost non-existent) crosstalk, within +/-0.1dB. This will give mixes a wider and more accurate stereophonic image, tremendous depth, and the most direct signal path, allowing you to perceive every single detail of your mixes.
The elegant simplicity and precision (fixed level accuracy) of the RUPERT NEVE DESIGN 5057 ORBIT allows for quick and easily repeatable DAW-based recall from one mix to another, adding the rich, unparalleled sound quality of Mr. Neve's transformer-coupled Class-A mix buss.
