The RUPERT NEVE DESIGN PORTICO 5024 is a 4-channel preamplifier that incorporates four channels of renowned preamplification, independent controls, two channels of DI inputs, and an M-S decoder in a 1U format. The RUPERT NEVE DESIGN PORTICO 5024 is equipped to enhance the front-end performance of any digital or analog recording system. Each channel of the RUPERT NEVE DESIGN PORTICO 5024 is based on custom transformers and Class A circuits found in the best-selling 5012.
In addition to 72dB of gain, the RUPERT NEVE DESIGN PORTICO 5024's microphone pres include individually selectable phase, mute, phantom power, a selectable high-pass filter, and the Silk circuit that produces the warmth and presence of famous classic designs. Channels 1 and 2 of the RUPERT NEVE DESIGN PORTICO 5024 feature a high-Z input designed for instrument-level sources. Channels 3 and 4 feature an M-S switch, allowing Mid-Side decoding without using multiple console channels.
The microphone input is balanced but not floating, using a Transformer-Like-Amplifier (T.L.A.) type configuration with a toroidal Common Mode Rejection low-pass filter that excludes frequencies above 150 kHz. The T.L.A. is followed by a true input transformer designed by Mr. Neve that allows handling a full +25 dBu input signal at unity gain without an input pad across the entire audio spectrum. This innovative solution combines the benefits of an electronically balanced and true transformer input.
When Phantom voltage is off, this input functions as a high-quality line input with a 10K Ohm impedance.
Great care has been taken in the design of the RUPERT NEVE DESIGN PORTICO 5024 to produce the lowest possible noise and non-harmonic distortion. The carefully implemented signal paths and Class A operation are an important part of its sweet and quiet performance.
All Portico modules use input and output transformers and almost entirely discrete component amplifiers. In fact, the Line amplifiers alone, inserted into the signal chain, can improve the sound quality of many signal sources, especially those of digital origin.
