Microphone Level Management
The RUPERT NEVE DESIGN PORTICO 5045 Primary Source Enhancer is a two-channel microphone level manager extremely useful for reducing feedback. It allows for an increase of up to 20 dB in the feedback threshold of a microphone source without altering the tonal characteristics of the source in any way. The controls are extremely simple and require minimal user intervention: the RUPERT NEVE DESIGN PORTICO 5045 is ideal for houses of worship, stadiums, concert halls, and any other location where feedback is a problem.
The RUPERT NEVE DESIGN PORTICO 5045 has some characteristics similar to traditional noise gates, but it operates on a different principle. A common trait is that both reduce gain in the absence of a signal – or rather, both begin to attenuate when the signal drops below the user-set threshold. The RUPERT NEVE DESIGN PORTICO 5045 detects the presence of speech or singing and allows the signal to pass unaltered; when speech or singing stops, it decreases the gain, thereby reducing the system's tendency to go into feedback. But most importantly, the RUPERT NEVE DESIGN PORTICO 5045 does not use any type of filtering or digital processing to achieve significant results.
