SENNHEISER HD 820 are closed-back dynamic headphones that employ innovative technology making them incredibly transparent and natural. Developed and manufactured in Germany, they offer an incredibly realistic and natural soundstage and are also distinguished by the extraordinary attention given to every detail of their design. Their comfortable microfiber earpads are handcrafted, providing excellent ambient noise attenuation, while the robust metal headband includes an internal damping element.
The soundstage of the SENNHEISER HD 820 is completely open, which is not what one would expect from closed-back circumaural headphones.
The extraordinary transparent performance of the SENNHEISER HD 820 has been achieved thanks to a special innovation: their legendary Sennheiser ring transducers are equipped with unique glass covers. Despite the attractive look conferred by the transparency of the back, this visually striking feature was actually developed entirely in service of the sound: the concave glass reflects sound waves from the back of the transducer to an absorber, which results in minimal resonance. Therefore, the sound waves are effectively "gone" as if they were in an open headphone.
