SOFTUBE CONSOLE 1 FADER is a control surface with 10 motorized faders that is much more than a simple DAW/Plug-in controller. It is an efficient and elegant system that sounds great, a modern solution that combines hardware and software, offering the user the best of both worlds: versatility, accessibility, and the ease of use of in-the-box mixing, and the workflow, feel, and focus that only a physical machine can offer. There are various approaches to mixing; for many, using faders involves a significant effort in "muscle memory." Setting and managing five/ten different sounds or groups simultaneously, while listening and continuously adjusting the parameters of one's work, is a discipline that engages the entire body. Software alone cannot even remotely approach this type of approach. This is why SOFTUBE CONSOLE 1 FADER was created. The ten motorized 100 mm Alps faders offer a professional feel, while the robust metal chassis, with its elegant Scandinavian design, ensures longevity and robustness.
SOFTUBE CONSOLE 1 FADER contains two software emulations, Tube and Discrete. It is much more than a simple surgical digital tool. The Fader enriches the sound just like old analog consoles, from filtering to saturation.
The design recalls that of Console 1, and similarly, SOFTUBE CONSOLE 1 FADER guides the user to new levels of control over the world of mixing. The unit allows the user to control up to ten channels simultaneously, working on volume, hi-cut and low-cut filters, drive and drive character (saturation based on console modeling), and much more. It is obviously possible to navigate through multiple channels with the "page up" command, which allows selecting another ten, thus managing even hundreds of different channels within a single session.
The single potentiometer on SOFTUBE CONSOLE 1 FADER allows controlling the pan of each individual track but also unlocks powerful tools for working on the stereo image, to make individual tracks more "open" or "consolidate" them, finding the perfect space for each sound within the mix.
SOFTUBE CONSOLE 1 FADER can be used alone or in conjunction with the original Channel Strip Console 1 for a complete experience as close as possible to that of a real console. It is also possible to use multiple Fader units to build the ideal workflow within a specific studio.
The three assignable buttons work, by default, as transport controls for major DAWs, but each of them can be assigned to a chosen key command (e.g., CTRL+Z). Many different uses can be imagined.
Thanks to the innovative "Layer mode," it is possible to create a layer of tracks, providing various mixing possibilities at hand. For example, it can be used to apply a lo-cut filter to all guitar tracks in one go, or to saturate an entire group of instruments in a few seconds.
