The TASCAM DR-07X is a handheld digital recorder and USB audio interface based on the popular and powerful Tascam DR-07. Ideal for music recording, sound design, and more, the TASCAM DR-07X offers immense power and performance in a compact package. A pair of cardioid condenser microphones handles high sound pressure levels and can be set in either AB or XY orientation for a wide stereo field or extra-clear reproduction with reduced phase shift between the two channels. Users can also use their own microphone or line-level source via the stereo mini-jack input which includes plug-in power for microphones that need it. And with an increased microSDXC card capacity of up to 128GB, the TASCAM DR-07X can literally record for days on end.
The TASCAM DR-07X features a simple multi-language user interface that makes it easy to access recording, level adjustment, deleting takes, adding markers, and other common functions with a single click. Menus are available in English, Spanish, Portuguese, French, Italian, German, Russian, Chinese, Korean, Japanese. Three different automatic level modes (Limiter, Peak Reduction, Auto Level) can help prevent accidental distortion during recording. Users can apply one of six reverb effects to the input or output signal, and an Overdub function allows adding vocals or instruments to existing audio files. There's also a level alignment function that smooths out any sudden volume jumps during playback and a built-in speaker for quick checking. Other features like variable speed playback, low-cut filter, chromatic tuner, and much more can be selected from the menu.
The new dictation mode allows the user to jump back and forth in pre-selected increments when playing a file. It can be combined with speed control and a special dictation EQ, making it useful for transcribing recordings. The new tape overwrite mode with an undo level allows users to select an access time and replace part of an existing recording.
In addition to portable recording, the TASCAM DR-07X can also be used as a USB audio interface with two inputs and outputs, making it ideal for voiceover work, live streaming, podcasting, and songwriting with studio-quality audio.
