Thunderbolt 3 Audio Interface
UNIVERSAL AUDIO APOLLO X4 is a Thunderbolt audio interface for Mac and Windows 3 that allows musicians and producers to easily monitor, overdub and mix large projects with elite-class A/D and D/A conversion, four Unison-enabled preamps and QUAD Core processing of UAD plug-ins in real-time.
Built on UA's 60-year tradition of audio craftsmanship, UNIVERSAL AUDIO APOLLO X4 outperforms all other machines in its class, with a D/A dynamic range of 127 dB and an included bundle of UAD analog emulation plug-ins, providing a complete analog studio in a single desktop interface.
UNIVERSAL AUDIO APOLLO X4 features four Unison-enabled microphone preamps, allowing you to record using precise emulations of microphone preamps from Neve, Helios, API, Manley, Universal Audio, and many more. Exclusive to UA Audio Interfaces, Unison technology captures all the sound details of these sought-after tube and solid-state preamps, including their input impedance, gain, "sweet spot" and component-level behaviors of the original hardware.
The secret to Unison is its hardware-software integration between Apollo's microphone preamps and the integrated UAD QUAD Core DSP acceleration. By simply placing a Unison preamp plug-in on the microphone input in the Apollo Console software, the impedance of the Apollo interface is physically reconfigured, so you can tap into the classic sounds of the world's most recorded microphone preamps.
To improve upon the previous generation of first-class audio conversion in Apollo desktop interfaces, UA engineers redesigned the audio conversion of UNIVERSAL AUDIO APOLLO X4 to deliver an astonishing 127 dB dynamic range and -117 dB THD + N, giving it a spacious, organic sound that rivals many dedicated high-end converters.
UNIVERSAL AUDIO APOLLO X4 immediately offers a suite of incredible analog emulation plug-ins including the world's only authentic Teletronix LA-2A, 1176LN, Fairchild 670, Pultec EQs, and UA 610-B Tube Preamp & EQ. Developed by UA's world-renowned algorithmic engineering team, these Realtime Analog Classics Plus plug-ins set the standard by which all other hardware emulation plug-ins are judged.
In addition to its four integrated Unison preamps, UNIVERSAL AUDIO APOLLO X4 offers two headphone outputs and two Hi-Z instrument inputs. Furthermore, with a total of four line outputs, optical ADAT/SPDIF input and output, as well as dedicated remote monitor controls and an integrated Talkback microphone, the Apollo x4 12x18 can easily be the powerful hub of a professional desktop studio.
Finally, users of any Thunderbolt-equipped Apollo interface can combine up to four Apollos and six total UAD-2 devices, adding I/O and DSP as the studio grows.
