WALDORF IRIDIUM KEYBOARD 3-oscillator Synthesizer 49-key
Estimated delivery in Italy between 7 and 9 July
3-oscillator synth with 49 semi-weighted keys and polyphonic aftertouch
After introducing IRIDIUM, the high-class synthesizer in a compact desktop format based on the principles of Quantum – the flagship keyboard, Waldorf Music presents the new IRIDIUM KEYBOARD, the keyboard counterpart with 49 FATAR TP/8SK semi-weighted keys featuring polyphonic aftertouch, a large front panel with "one knob per function" ensuring full sound control and an effective workflow, as well as a highly responsive touch display for editing LFOs, oscillators, filters, MODs and effects, Pitch and Modulation wheels, and six programmable Macro buttons to define automations for a wide range of functionalities for further performance control. With a design bearing Axel Hartmann's distinctive marks, Iridium Keyboard holds a place of honor in the Waldorf synth family tree and stands as a direct descendant of the legendary PPG Wave series – synthesizers that made their mark in the 80s by bringing wavetable synthesis sound to the masses. Compared to its acclaimed ancestor, Iridium Keyboard – like its sibling Iridium Desktop, puts much more "on the table," with five synthesis algorithms for each of the three oscillators:
- Waldorf-style Wavetables – Waldorf-style Wavetable with implementations found in Nave, including vocal synthesis and wavetable generation from audio.
- Classic Synthesizer Waveforms – Classic waveforms with multiple waves for an ultra-fat sound
- Particle (sampling and granular sampling) – Sound reproduction of audio samples with two different modes: traditional and granular
- Resonator – For virtual sound sculpting based on impulse or sample
- Kernel – Allows transforming an oscillator into up to six sub-oscillators
POLYPHONIC AFTERTOUCH AND MPE SUPPORT
Thanks to polyphonic aftertouch individually transmitted to each pressed note, incredible tonal variations flow freely when playing Iridium Keyboard. In other words, individual keys are affected by the pressure exerted by each finger, thus creating individual modulations. Like Iridium Desktop, the Keyboard version also includes a Mod Matrix with 40 independent modulation assignments, each with Source, Amount, and Destination settings. Additionally, Iridium Keyboard is capable of processing MIDI MPE (MIDI Polyphonic Expression) data to control parameters of different notes separately, with behavior entirely similar to an acoustic instrument and spontaneous polyphonic sound control.
FILTERS AND MODULATIONS
Iridium Keyboard offers 2 stereo digital filters per voice selectable from virtually all classics, plus Waldorf COMB, HP, and BP, notch filters from Nave / Largo software synthesizers, and PPG models – most also available in the Digital Former section along with Drive, Bit Crusher, Ring Modulator, and other effects. Numerous envelopes and LFOs can be used as sources in the Mod Matrix and assigned to virtually any parameter of Iridium Keyboard.
CONNECTIONS
Iridium Keyboard features numerous connections for processing and interfacing with other devices, including two audio inputs for external signal processing, CV inputs, Gate In, and Trigger In usable as Mod Matrix sources, Clock In and Clock Out connections for synchronization. There are also MIDI In/Out/Thru connections and MIDI via USB*, a USB Host port for connecting MIDI controllers, inputs for sustain and expression pedals, as well as a headphone output with dedicated volume control and two audio outputs.
PRESETS
Iridium Keyboard includes 1680 sounds programmed by acclaimed sound designers such as: Howard Scarr, Richard Devine, Kurt Ader, BT, Matt Johnson, Reinhold Heil, Jörg Hüttner, Mike Huckaby, Thorsten Quaeschning, and Sascha Dikiciyan. Iridium Keyboard is also compatible with patches created for Quantum, Waldorf's flagship synthesizer.
