The WARM AUDIO WA12 MKII BLACK is a microphone preamplifier with fully discrete, high-voltage, dual-transformer circuitry. Designed to provide high gain (+71dB), it boasts high headroom, low noise, and delivers top-tier sonic performance across various recording applications.
The WARM AUDIO WA12 MKII BLACK is based on a discrete op-amp, the X731, which is an accurate reproduction of the classic vintage Melcor 1731, considered by some to be the forerunner of modern 2520-style op-amps. The X731 can achieve vibrant, clean, and realistic tones, but it can also be pushed into saturation in a gentle and barely perceptible way, or more violently and brutally!
The WARM AUDIO WA12 MKII BLACK can also accommodate any discrete op-amp available on the market that conforms to the standard 2520 pinout, +/- 16v.
By using CineMag USA transformers and a fully discrete signal path, Warm Audio has ensured that this preamplifier is equipped with the right building blocks to compete with the best preamps on the market.
