Microphone Preamp with EQ
The WARM AUDIO WA73-EQ is a "Desert Island" boutique microphone preamp with EQ, but it can also be classified as a workhorse for both studio and live applications. Classic '73-style preamps are known for being versatile tools that work with all types of microphones, from condensers to dynamics to ribbon microphones. The WARM AUDIO WA73 shines equally on all types of microphones and sources including; vocals, acoustic/electric guitars, bass, drums, percussion, orchestras, keyboards, and even as a tone-shaping tool for running partial or full mixes through. With 80 dB of gain and a fully discrete, Carnhill transformer-balanced signal path, there are no recording, mixing, or engineering tasks that the WARM AUDIO WA73 cannot handle.
Warm Audio has worked closely with Carnhill Transformers of Cambridgeshire, UK, to faithfully design reproductions of the early transformers from the most coveted vintage units.
The WARM AUDIO WA73 uses tantalum and polystyrene capacitors in the signal path and a choice of output transistors that are much smoother at high gain settings than what is typically found in modern '73-style preamps.
The complex dual-concentric switch potentiometers in the EQ sections of the WARM AUDIO WA73-EQ are manufactured in the UK by Blore Edwards, which produces military-grade switches and potentiometers. The use of Blore-Edwards components is no small feat for a '73-style preamp-EQ in this price range.
The WARM AUDIO WA73 is hand-wired and hand-assembled, including the PCB components.
