N22H is a high-quality standalone headphone amplifier, cable rationalisation device and advanced headphone signal distribution system.
Distributed Amplification via Cat 5
N22H is a headphone amp that can be placed wherever it is needed with a single Cat 5 cable.
When paired with another C.A.S.T. enabled product, N22H can send two mic/line signals to the connected device and receive a monitor mix to send directly to its headphone outputs.
N22H is a small form factor tool for musicians and technicians looking for quality headphone amplification in the studio or on stage, with the same features as the 500R8 interface. By setting the source to "switch 1&2", the line signals connected to the N22H inputs will be sent directly to the headphone amp for standalone, portable and powerful amplification.
No cable clutter
The C.A.S.T. system replaces four balanced XLR cables with a single CAT 5 cable.
C.A.S.T (Cat 5 Analogue Signal Transport) uses the internal copper pairs of the Cat5 cable to transmit 4 channels over distances up to 100 metres.
Cranborne developed C.A.S.T. to create the perfect platform for audio distribution in studios and on stages, reducing cable clutter, improving sound performance, lowering costs and improving flexibility in distributing audio channels. The C.A.S.T. system makes it possible to transform the classic tangle of cables into an artistic, clean and tidy wiring.
Advanced C.A.S.T. Expander
Connect the N22H to the C.A.S.T. inputs of a 500R8 or 500ADAT: the sources connected to the N22H will be sent directly to the interface for recording. The same C.A.S.T. connection will carry a stereo monitor mix generated by the 500R8/500ADAT to the headphone amp and dual 1/4" jack outputs for zero-latency analog monitoring.
Standalone Cat5 Snake
The use of the N22H and N22 will replace cumbersome and expensive analogue multicore cables, allowing balanced audio signals to be transmitted between two locations. The N22H can be connected to your audio interface to distribute audio to a vocal booth, recording room or temporary sound corridor using a single Cat 5 cable.
Reference quality standalone headphone amplifier
Featuring the same quality as the flagship 500R8 interface, the N22H headphone amp is the tool for all engineers who want to adequately amplify their headphones. With the source selector on switch "1&2", line sources connected to the N22H inputs can be sent directly to the headphone amp, without the need for a C.A.S.T. connection. With an output impedance of 0.33 Ohm, up to 500mA of power per channel and a signal path with very low distortion (THD = 0.0003%, 1kHz), the N22H headphone amp offers crystal clear amplification with sufficient volume to drive any headphones. It can also be powered by a 9v battery or an external 9v power supply.
