The RUPERT NEVE DESIGN 517 is a Pre/DI/Compressor with Variphase based on the functions of the Portico 5017: it provides a microphone preamplifier, compressor, DI circuit, variphase, silk, and Mic/DI channel mix functions within a high-quality module compatible with the 500 series. Silk: This feature enhances sound quality and adds a more vintage color by reducing negative feedback to achieve a very pleasant and musical sound.

- DI Input: High-impedance balanced or unbalanced input for instruments
- Phantom Power: The selector on the rear panel enables 48V power
- Phase Inversion: Inverts the phase of the input signal by 180 degrees
- Threshold: When the signal exceeds the set threshold here, the gain is reduced with a fixed compression ratio of 2:1, and fixed attack and release.
