Specifications
- USB Audio Interface:
- By connecting it directly to your PC/Mac via USB, you can use it as a 28-in/30-out audio interface to record and play back audio directly from your DAW.
- Monitor Controller: It features controls for two pairs of monitors, mono sum, mute, dim, and talkback, as well as a 28-segment LED level meter for controlling the peak level of the mix.
- Zero-latency Musician's Mixer: Live sources can be monitored in the analog domain with zero latency, with level and pan controls and a high-quality headphone amplifier.
- Discrete Component Summing Mixer: Enhance your mixes by adding analog character via discrete summing of 8 sources via USB through the 500 modules and record it directly to your DAW as a stereo track.
- High-Quality Conversion and Clocking
- To make your 500 series modules shine in digital recordings, the conversion quality must be the best possible. The 500R8 converters are designed to ensure that the only things that color your recordings are microphone placement, mixing decisions, and the choice of 500 modules.

Cranborne Audio 500R8 Full
- Did you think it was over?
- If you need more recording channels on the 500R8, using a 500ADAT will help. Connect the 500R8 and 500ADAT via the ADAT ports to have 16 channels of 500 modules to work with during both recording and mixing. Although the 500ADAT offers the same performance as the 500R8, any third-party ADAT expander is compatible.
- More Recording Channels
- Record up to 16 channels directly through individual 500 series modules straight into your DAW.
- More Summing Channels
- Play back and sum your stems or groups through the 16 500 series slots using C.A.S.T. connections.
- C.A.S.T. Away
- Thanks to the C.A.S.T. system, the 500R8 avoids excessive cable clutter by using an economical, low-maintenance, plug-and-play solution capable of carrying 4 channels of balanced analog audio with a single Cat5 cable, directly to the desired destination.
- Receive Audio from C.A.S.T.
- Connect the 500R8 to N22/N22H breakout boxes using a shielded Cat5 cable to send microphone and line sources over distances of 100 meters, directly to the module inputs.
- Transmit Audio to C.A.S.T.
- Via the same Cat5 connection, you can carry the 500R8's monitor mix (including talkback) via C.A.S.T. directly to musicians with zero latency.
- Dimensions
- Housed in 4U, with a 19" rack-mountable steel chassis, the 500R8 is also perfect for mobile recording. Cranborne has thought of everything, including ears to support different mounting methods. You can insert the 500R8 into a rack to protect its front panel during travel; you can also take the ears and re-orient them to make it a hand-portable unit.
