RUPERT NEVE DESIGN 543 is a 500 Series Compressor/Limiter that offers discrete dynamic control, musicality, and solid limiting made famous in the Portico 5043 in 500 series format. RUPERT NEVE DESIGN 543 features a fully controllable compressor limiter with feed-forward/feedback modes, Peak/RMS detection, and built-in high-pass side chain filter. With unrivaled heritage and an extraordinary set of features, RUPERT NEVE DESIGN 543 delivers a combination of warmth, flexibility, and precision capable of impressing sound engineers worldwide.
Built on the foundation of Mr. Rupert Neve's custom transformer designs, each RUPERT NEVE DESIGN 543 module includes individually controllable thresholds, attack, release, makeup gain, ratio, side chain HPF, Feed-Forward/Feed-Back selection, and Peak/RMS detection mode. With the compressor bypassed, RUPERT NEVE DESIGN 543 can be used as a high-performance line amplifier with transformer coupling, and two RUPERT NEVE DESIGN 543 units can be linked for stereo operation. The chassis is built to standard 500 series specifications, with power and I/O provided by the rack.
To control gain, a V.C.A. or Voltage Controlled Amplifier (or Attenuator) is used.
One of the most unique features of the RUPERT NEVE DESIGN 543 is the new Peak/RMS mode also found in the Portico II channel. This switch allows the VCA (voltage controlled amplifier) to respond to both RMS (Root Mean Square) and peak levels.
